Denis Lucquin
After 5 years, he joined the world of venture capital: Innolion (Crédit Lyonnais), then Sofinnova Partners where he was for 17 years, specialised in healthcare ; his track record includes Nicox, Oxford Glycosciences, Oxford Molecular, PPL Therapeutics, Conjuchem, Exonhit, IDM, Innate Pharma, Ablynx, Cerenis and Noxon (all of which have gone public), as well as Novexel (sold to Astra Zeneca) and Crop Design (sold to Bayer Crop Sciences)
He recently initiated the Industrial Biotechnology activity at Sofinnova, and invested in BioAmber and Avantium (now listed on the NYSE and EuroNext Amsterdam respectively), and in Green Biologics and Agrosavfe.
Denis also initiated the Inserm Transfert Initiative, of which Sofinnova was a founding shareholder.
Denis is or has been a member of the Board of all these companies, Chairman of Sofinnova for 10 years, and founded France Biotech, the French association of biotechnology entrepreneurs.
Denis is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique (X77), Ecole du Génie Rural et des Eaux et Forêts, and Université Paris Dauphine (in innovation management).
Cécile Tharaud
cecile.tharaud@polytechnique-ventures.frAt the age of 40, she dedicated herself to the reorganisation of Inserm's valorisation activities (French National Institute for Health and Medical Research), developed its subsidiary Inserm Transfert, and raised €35.5m to finance its seed fund, Inserm Transfert Initiative.
Her track record includes Hemarina; Aelis Farma, Inotrem, Enyo Pharma, and EyeVensys (companies now in post series B, phase 2 clinical trials), Sensorion (listed on Euronext Paris), and Annapurna Therapeutics (merged with Avalanche Biotechnologies to form Adverum Biotechnologies, listed on Nasdaq)
Cécile was a member of the Board of Directors of AERES (now HCERES), then a valuation expert for the same institution.
Cécile is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique (X84), holds a PhD in molecular genetics from Agro-Paris Grignon (now Agro ParisTech), and an MBA from Insead (MBA'92).
Maxime Cardinal
maxime.cardinal@polytechnique-ventures.frInitially, Maxime worked on Sustainable City issues, supporting local actors in their energy transition. From the optimisation of new districts to photovoltaic self-consumption, via the integration of electric vehicle fleets, he was responsible for bringing together the cross-disciplinary skills of the EDF Group to meet the expertise needs of internal and external clients.
He then joined the international department where he participated in the growth of the EDF Group's activities in energy access. Translating the CAP 2030 strategic plan, Maxime actively participates in the growth of this new activity by investing in startups (SunCulture in Kenya, Standard MicroGrid in Zambia) and by establishing new Joint-Ventures in Kenya with BBOXX, in Togo and in Ivory Coast with SunCulture to extend the group's portfolio.
Maxime is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique (X2010) and holds a Specialised Master's degree from Mines ParisTech in Energy Systems Optimisation (OSE).

Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee’s mission is to advise and enlighten the Polytechnique Ventures team on investment opportunities. It supports the team from project selection to divestments and meets with start-up for which an investment is considered. It is composed of venture capital professionals:
- Jean-David Chamboredon, Co-Founder and CEO of ISAI Gestion ;
- Bernard Daugeras, Co-Founder of Auriga Partners ;
- Antoine Guarrigues, Co-Founder of Iris Capital ;
- Emmanuel Laillier, Head of Private Equity at Tikehau Capital ;
- Bertrand Pivin, Managing Partner at Seven2.
Moreover, the below members are permanent guests:
- The Director of Innovation & Entrepreneurship of Ecole polytechnique;

Strategic Committee
The role of the Strategic Committee is to analyze and advise the Polytechnique Ventures team on the proper functioning of the fund. More precisely, it is called upon to review the quality of reporting and information sent to shareholders, to monitor the investment policy and to oversee recruitment. It is made up of private equity and entrepreneurship experts:

- Pierre Bontemps, CEO of ELVI ;
- André Lebrun, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Arcole Industries ;
- Stéphanie Besnier, CFO of OVH ;
